Eight Attributes To God's Timing
There is a timing for everything, and this morning, I want to talk about two specific dimensions of time that God uses to work in our lives. A lot of times, we get a prophetic word or see a revelation from Scripture, and we think we immediately need to move and make it happen ourselves. I’ve done this before—I’ve gotten a word and tried to make it work in my own natural strength. But as we head toward 2026, we need to understand how to move in alignment with God's clock.
The Two Dimensions of Time
Chronos: This is the linear, chronological span of time we live in. It’s the days, the seasons, and the 24-hour timeline orchestrated by God where we wake up and go to sleep.
Kairos: This is the "opportune time" or the "divine moment". It’s when God steps into your Chronos with a specific purpose. If you don't recognize your Kairos, you can miss the visitation God has for you.
If you don’t recognize your Kairos, you’ll miss your visitation. But if you understand these eight attributes of God’s timing, you can step into an acceleration that will make 2026 a year of total redemption.
1. Stop Trying to Force the Word
A lot of people get a prophetic word and think, "I need to go make this happen right now." I’ve been there. I’ve tried to work the word in my own natural strength, and all it does is lead to burnout. Look at Apostle Paul. In Acts 9, God called him a "chosen vessel," but he didn't start his major ministry until Acts 13:1. He spent years in prayer and preparation before the "set apart" moment arrived. Don’t rush the process.
2. Respect the Law of Seed Time and Harvest
Everything in your life is a seed—your time, your effort, and your money. Genesis 8:22 tells us that as long as the earth remains, seedtime and harvest shall not cease. You can’t just plant one seed and say, "Praise God, where’s my vineyard?" You have to keep sowing. When you tell someone about Jesus, you are sowing into the ground of their heart. Eventually, the harvest must come because it is God's law.
3. Don’t "Eat" Your Time
You can "eat up" your time just as easily as you can eat your seed. I’ll be honest with you—I’ve done it. I’ll get on my phone for "five minutes," and an hour and a half later, I’m still sitting there watching silly AI cat videos. We have to value our time because once a Chronos moment is gone, you can’t get it back.
4. Practice Daily Self-Denial
Jesus said in Luke 9:23 that if anyone wants to follow Him, they must deny themselves and take up their cross daily. This isn't about looking miserable; it’s about daily seeking His will over your own. I see this in my own marriage. Sometimes my flesh doesn’t want to give, but my wife, who stays in the Spirit, will say, "We need to sow this." When I deny my rationalizing mind and obey, the blessing follows.
5. Be Open to Personal Revelation
God wants to reveal your path to you. Look at Joseph. The Bible says in Psalm 105:19 that "until the time that his word came: the word of the Lord tried him." While he was in prison (Chronos), God was perfecting his character for the palace (Kairos). Expect God to show you things about your future, just like He showed me I was going to get married long before I met my wife.
6. Seek Understanding, Not Just Information
It’s not enough to memorize scripture; you need the Holy Spirit to give you understanding. In Acts 2, when the Spirit fell, Peter stood up and had instant understanding of Joel 2:28, declaring, "This is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel." When you have understanding, you stop struggling for forty years for something God wants to give you now.
7. Cultivate Fruit in the Waiting
How you act while you wait matters. Look at Daniel. In Daniel 10, he humbled himself with fasting and prayer to seek understanding about a vision for the future. He didn't get bitter; he got focused. Don't let the wilderness turn you sour. Moses and the children of Israel had to spend forty extra years in the wilderness because they didn't move when they were supposed to.
8. Move with Urgency When the Door Opens
When the Kairos moment arrives, you must move. Look at the ministry of Billy Graham. For years, he was just a local preacher, but when that "open door" came via the radio, his ministry exploded globally. He didn't miss his timing. Similarly, in John 2, Mary understood the timing was right and told the servants at the wedding, "Whatever He says to you, do it."
I am standing in faith with you that 2026 will be a year of acceleration. God can do in one year what would take ten years in your natural strength. Whatever time the "locusts" have eaten, God is preparing to redeem. Stay in alignment, keep your heart sweet, and get ready—there is a miracle with your name on it.
